Loch Alsh Reservoir Study - 2007

Upper Dublin High School A.P. Environmental Science students conducted chemical tests to assess the overall ecological health of Loch Alsh Reservoir in Fort Washington, PA.  The chemical tests performed included measurements of dissolved oxygen levels, phosphates, nitrates, pH, etc.  Water temperature, turbidity, color, and smell were also determined as parts of the habitat assessment.  Four sites were selected for study to represent some distinctive locations around the reservoir from the source (site 4), to recreation areas (sites 1 & 3), to the dam itself (site 2).  The four testing sites are marked on the satellite image above, and closer photos of each are shown below.
